Azerbaijan Node presented on the annual workshop of Millennium Project

Azerbaijan Future Studies Society took part in the workshop of the Planning Committee on Millennium Project in the capacity of department of Millennium Project, which took place from 15 to 17 July of the current year in Chicago, USA. Azerbaijan was represented for the first time in this conference, which is the annual report workshop for all Millennium Project Nodes around the world, which is held since 1996 (totally32). During her speech at the conference, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Node of Millennium Project, head of Azerbaijan Future Studies Society Reyhan Huseynova noted the work done by Future Studies Society from its foundation in 2006, and told about tendencies of development of Azerbaijan within globalization, world financial crisis, and demand for oil. This year the conference was attended by the representatives of departments from Argentine, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Central Europe, Finland, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, Russia, China, India, Japan, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand, USA, and also many representatives of international organizations. In the capacity of guests of honor were Ambassador John McDonald, President of the Multilateral Diplomacy Institution (on Conflict Studies issues), Washington, D.C., and John Fittipaldi from Army Institute on Ecological Policy, Arlington, Virginia, USA.
It is remarkable, that several reports were given through the internet network Second Life (particularly reports of the Nodes from Belgium and Bolivia).
In whole according to the results of the conference, high growth dynamics of future studies in developing countries was mentioned, national strategies were paid more attention, Millennium Project Nodes accelerate their work in development of national State of the Future Index, and however, Global Problems demand more thorough incorporation into long-term strategies of the development of future.
